Weekend Intensive Schedule:

Hot Yoga for DETOX (Tracy) Friday June 22nd at 6:30 PM
We will begin our weekend intensive on Friday night with Hot Yoga for DETOX!  This is a safe and healthy practice taught in a moderately heated room between 78-95 degrees. The purpose of Hot Yoga is to literally get us s...weating. The focus is by building an internal heat through a flowing class format referred to as “flex and flow”. In the flex and flow format, we hold (flex) various poses and then flow through them maximizing muscular conditioning and promoting a healthy range of motion for our joints.

Discussion/Lecture: The Importance of Sweat:
One of the primary ways we benefit from a HOT YOGA class is through sweat or perspiration, our skin’s way of cooling us down and “cleaning house”. Our skin, the largest organ in our body, protects our internal bodily structure and guards against foreign invaders. It also helps rid our body of internal toxins, which if left unchecked, can cause serious problems. Along with the liver and kidneys, the skin works around the clock to provide a “way out” for waste products. By increasing our internal body temperature through moving and breathing in a a Hot Yoga class, and increasing the external temperature by turning up the thermostat, we assist our bodies in this natural detoxification process. The heat we build also increases circulation through our blood stream: to our heart, through our digestive system, our lymphatic system and even to our brains. The result, we feel revitalized, refreshed, and more alert!
Mental Detoxification:
As we turn up the heat and allow our sweat to flow freely in our class we have a powerful opportunity to enter our flow state. As we cleanse the body we also clear the mind, almost as if the mind knows we are riding ourselves of toxicity. The flow state refers to the space where we become so in-tune with what we are doing that we lose time or as if it stands still, little attention is left to worry about life outside of the moment. This space is integral in stress reduction and improves our overall state of being when experienced regularly.  Come to this practice well hydrated, and ready to flow!  Bring a towel for sweat, and any props you may like.

Yin Practice: Saturday June 23rd at 11:30 PM-12:15 PM
A 75 minute Yin Practice  which will emphasize stretching muscle as well as connective tissues in the body including hips, thighs and lower spinal regions. Yin Yoga is a perfect match for yang yoga, and provides a deep stretch. Yin practice is an excellent practice for all bodies and types.
Yin yoga also increases one's ability to perform yang yoga, the next asana practice within our weekend series. By having our joints lubricated we become more flexible and our yang practices begin to feel easier. Perhaps the main difference in yin and yang yoga is each practice's affect on the mind. Yin yoga creats a balance of inner peace in the mind. In its earlier years of existence, yin yoga was used to improve meditation practices. Yin and yang yoga provides physical health as well as mental stability.
