Integrative Massage can be designed to help you meet your short-term and long-term goals, and may include Swedish Massage for increased circulation, along with the deeper, more specific work of Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, Orthopedic massage and Cupping Therapy. In many cases, the roots of tension lie beyond the musculoskeletal system. These restrictions may be organ-related, in the lymphatic system or deeper in the central nervous system. They may even stem from mental or emotional tension. Such issues may benefit from lighter touch therapies like Craniosacral Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Reflexology and Reiki. These therapies, though gentle, can support deep healing. Each type of therapy can be scheduled for a full session or integrated into your massage.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a light touch technique performed with the client fully clothed. Following the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid, the therapist listens for restrictions in and around the central nervous system and gently releases them, allowing the body to return to a balanced state. CST is a deeply relaxing therapy and can help relieve chronic neck and back pain, headaches, anxiety, unexplained pain syndromes, dizziness, chronic fatigue and brain traumas. It also can ease symptoms associated with PTSD, autism spectrum disorders, Parkinson’s Disease and other degenerative diseases of the nervous system.
Cupping Therapy creates a vacuum to draw out stagnation and toxins promoting the free flow of blood and energy in the body. Cupping therapy has been used for centuries and is well-documented by the Egyptians, Chinese and Greeks to alleviate a variety of ailments. It relaxes muscles and tissues, increases range of motion, improves metabolic processes, reduces joint pain and heals scar tissue. Cupping also can help with digestive disorders, painful menstruation, fatigue, injuries and arthritis pain.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (LDT) Because the lymphatic system is the main pathway for draining metabolic wastes and environmental toxins from the body, it is important to keep the lymphatic vessels free of congestion. Lymphatic Drainage Therapy practitioners use their hands to assess and enhance overall circulation to help drain stagnant fluids from the body. Therapists simulate gentle, wave-like movements to help activate lymph circulation and improve functioning of the immune and parasympathetic nervous systems. Benefits of LDT include relief from pain and inflammation, detoxification of the body, improved surgical outcomes (pre- and post-surgery), reduced symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia, regeneration of tissue, including burns, wounds and wrinkles, deep relaxation, illness prevention and recovery (LDT is not recommended during acute infection).
Raindrop Technique was developed by D. Gary Young after observing the healing practices of the Lakota people. It is based on his research of essential oils, his knowledge of the Vita Flex technique and its reflex points on the feet and the effects of light effleurage strokes on the muscles and nervous system. Raindrop combines a sequential application of essentials with these special massage techniques and to support the immune system and promote spinal health.
"Raindrop Technique is not a cure-all or a magic bullet. A healthy balanced body is the result of a well-rounded program of exercise and proper diet. Health is everything we do, say, hear, see, and eat. The Raindrop Technique is only one tool to help restore balance in the body that will result in good health." --Essential Oils Desk Reference
Reflexology is a light touch therapy that activates reflexes on the feet corresponding to the various organ systems and other parts of the body. Compressing or gently massaging these points helps to unblock congestion in the corresponding region in the body, improving circulation and elimination, reducing pain and stress normalizing the rhythms of the body.
Reiki is a relaxing hands on healing technique that enhances the flow of life force energy within and around the body. Because we are made of energy, Reiki can improve well-being on physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual levels. It can help reduces stress, eases physical pain, and calms and soothes the body, mind and spirit.
Visceral Manipulation (VM) is a gentle therapy that releases fascia restrictions in the abdominal area to encourage the normal movement and function of your internal organs. Fascial is the soft component of the connective tissue system and envelopes everything in the body; therefore, fascial restrictions around the organs may show up as chronic musculoskeletal disorders, such as pain and limitation in the shoulders and lower back. VM also may help improve digestion, sleep patterns, hormone balance, headaches, sinus symptoms, fatigue and pain related to post-operative scar tissue.
